Are Macaws Cuddly When They Grow Up?

Published on November 10, 2024

Baby Macaws can be really cuddly, kind of like a giant plush or stuffed animal. However, when Macaws grow up do they stay so sweet and cuddly? Not typically. It can be misleading how much you can handle young macaws but when they grow up they can become more hands off, shy, aggressive, and uninterested.

Rachel is a 12 year old Blue and Gold Macaw and she is still cuddly as an adult. This is the result of long term parrot training. Parrot training is not only beneficial for initially teaching a parrot to allow you to handle them but also for maintaining it into adulthood when they would naturally become more independent.
