I start by checking his motivation and interest in the treats that I am offering by showing a treat and letting him walk over to take it. Once I know he is excited about getting treats, I just show him the tip of the target stick near his beak. Once he touches it out of curiosity, I immediately click the clicker, pull away the target stick, and give him a treat instead. This teaches him that goodies come when he touches the stick with his beak. Soon he will be able to walk to wherever I point the target stick. This will be super helpful for teaching the Green Cheek Conure to step up, come in and out of the cage, learn tricks, and more.
