Step Up Hesitation - Why Parrots Don't Want to Step Up

Why is it that a parrot does not want to step up? This video is about step up hesitation and step up reluctance in parrots. When presented with a hand, even a friendly parrot, often backs away, hunkers down, holds onto a perch, or bites to avoid stepping up.

Aside from the simpler problem of the parrot doesn't like a person or doesn't want to be taken somewhere, even friendly well-trained parrots can still have strong hesitations about stepping up (even if they eventually do). This video analyzes some of the concerns, root causes, and mechanisms causing parrots who eventually step up hesitant about doing so.
