Baby Macaw Learning to Play with Toys

Published on September 16, 2021

Baby Blue and Gold Macaw discovering how to play with toys. To help this baby enjoy toys and learn to be more involved with them, I am personally introducing toys. I want the baby to be super enthusiastic about toys because toys are a great form of exercise and stimulation. They help keep the beak busy and quiet while also helping trim the beak and keep the bird happy.

By personally introducing the toys rather than strictly hanging them in the enclosure, I am able to build an association of playing and comfort with humans in the process. It's a bonding process as well as a learning opportunity for the parrot.
