How to Train a Senegal Parrot for Recall Flight

Published on May 02, 2025

How do you teach a Senegal Parrot or any bird to flight recall?

First you need the right training tools:
Clicker
Target Stick
2x Parrot Training Perches

All of these come as part of a Parrot Training Perch Kit:
https://ParrotWizard.com/Training_Perches

Use the target stick to encourage the parrot to walk, hop, and fly between the training perches. Then replace the second training perch with your hand and target the parrot onto your hand. When the distance is great enough, the bird will fly.

Parrots that grow up used to flying don't really think how they are getting around. For shorter distances they use their feet to walk and for longer distances they use their wings to fly.
