Why Teach a Parrot to Let You Open Their Wings?

Published on January 24, 2025

What is the purpose of teaching a parrot to let you open their wings? Why should you train a parrot to let you open the wings? This video is about the benefit of taming a parrot to allow wing opening.

Being able to handle their wings is required if you want to be able to put a harness on for going outside.

Furthermore, being able to open the wings can be beneficial if they need any inspection or care of their wings. Sometimes they can have a busted feather that requires attention.

However, the biggest reason is to build trust. Being able to touch and handle your parrot in every way builds great trust and a great relationship. The parrot discovers that you will never do harm and that you are there to help.

Learn how to train your parrot for great trust not just about opening wings but everything from The Parrot Wizard's Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots:
