Previous Video     Return to Search Results     Next Video Quaker Parrot Practicing Coming Out Of Cage and Going Back Into Cage Published on July 12, 2025 Now that my Quaker has become good at stepping onto a handheld perch, I can slowly take him out of the cage for brief periods of time. I move carefully so he doesn't get spooked and fly off the handheld perch. I gently direct him to go from the handheld perch to the Training Perch by himself. I give him a few treats to get used to spending more time on the Training Perch because eventually that's where we'll do our training exercises. Before anything can go wrong, I have him step back onto the handheld perch and slowly return him to the cage. This is an exercise I repeat often because it is practicing the two most essential things I'd want to be able to do with a parrot every day: have him come out and have him go back without trouble.
