Is it Normal for a Senegal Parrot to Get Jealous and Aggressive of Other People in the Family?

Senegal Parrots are known to be "one person birds". This is where they bond very strongly to one human (or another bird or to nobody) and then are very aggressive and defensive about everyone else. What is the solution to a jealous Senegal that likes one person but is aggressive to everyone else?

This is where positive reinforcement training is so beneficial. Initially, the person that the Senegal likes should do the basic training because it will be easier for that person to work with the bird. Training skills such as target training, clicker training, step up, coming in and out of the cage should be deliberately taught and practiced. These skills should be trained using clear training tools such as:

Training Perch - https://ParrotWizard.com/Training_Perches

Teach these skills following the training concepts and methods outline in The Parrot Wizard's Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots:

Then once the parrot is reliably trained, other people and family members can use those same tools to befriend the parrot to be more cooperative with them. Save the best and most favored treats for people the parrot does not favor. The parrot's favorite person should use fewer, less desirable, smaller treats. The favorite person should also continue training and challenging the parrot so that the behavior other family members request are comparatively easy, well practiced, and the treats are big. This makes overcoming the natural aggression toward other people more beneficial for the bird.
