Published on January 13, 2026 "Oh no, he's touching the parrot on the back!" is some of the comments I received. Well is it actually harmful to touch a parrot on the back? In and of itself, touching a parrot on the back does not harm or hurt them. However, many parrots may not be familiar with being touched and could be uncomfortable. The main reason is not to pet or stroke a parrot on the back. With adult parrots, this could make them hormonal. However, this Great Green Macaw is just a baby. I hold him on the back so he feels safe, warm, and loved. It helps build trust and comfort while he is young.
