It's super important to keep them safe when going outdoors. We use our relationship and training to keep the macaw from flying away. However, outside the home, not everything is completely within our control. For those unexpected situations, we use a leash as a backup plan every time. In this video, I practice having the babies put the collar of the leash on. It is very important that they are eager to put it on and do so voluntarily. I want them to want to put a leash on rather than just stick it onto them. This ensures they are comfortable and enjoy the entire process of going outside.
